Hi there. Welcome to Tamarind Chutney's newsletter. We use this space to update you about events, highlight stories of our awesome artisan partners and share our values and inspiration with you.

Firstly, we're super excited to launch this long time dream of ours. But who are we? A bit about ourselves and our journey that led to TC:

Old friends from school, it had been our whimsical dream to do something in the artisan space that appeals to our generation. We would discuss it in passing in school and college - one day, we’ll work together. We grow older, maybe a bit wiser and thought, why not now? Tanvi was in business school and exploring social entrepreneurship, and Charanya was looking to switch jobs and move into womenswear. The timing made sense, so this summer we officially began working on this!

In the last two months we’ve spoken to experts, travelled to meet artisans, and have launched a collection too. The pace has been crazy but we’ve loved every bit of it. While Tanvi returns to  finish her MBA at the end of this summer, she’ll continue working from there and can’t wait to graduate and resume full time work. Charanya will be in Delhi and we’ve also got the fabulous Saswati on board who’ll help us with ops. 

Our mission is to empower artisans through product development, market access and profit sharing. We’re committed to engaging deeply with our artisans - through business as well as social development partnerships. We also aim to be as sustainable as possible through our production processes, garments and operations. We’re all for conscious fashion - buy thoughtfully, use for as long as possible, and swap/upcycle. 

We are launching this month with two pop-up exhibitions in Delhi / NCR! Hope to see you at one (or both) of them :) 

- Friday, 9th August, WeWork BlueOne Square, Udyog Vihar, Gurgaon, 12pm - 6pm

- Sunday, 25th August, IndiCollage, Hauz Khas Market, 11am - 7pm

Our website is live and fully ready to accept orders pan-India as well.

And before we end - a promise. No spam. We're not into those daily mails telling you to buy our stuff. You'll hear from us once a month, unless of course you write in - we're very happy to chat :)

P.S. Some of you have asked whether our name was chosen because it matches our initials. As tempting as it is to say yes and make everyone believe we were so witty, that’s not what happened. The initials were a happy accident, we’re not complaining though!
