This fabric is woven completely by hand, and no electronic machines were harmed in the process :) Weaving is the interlacing of threads perpendicular to each other. The vertical thread is called the warp or tana and the horizontal thread is called the weft or bana. Plain weaves start with 2 sets of thread, and complicated weaves can have as many as 400 sets of threads!

Nice top

Preordered the top. Fitted well. This is my 3rd purchase from tamarind chutney (love the name!). First was a dress, then two short tops and now this top. This pairs well with black bottoms. For a very simple top, it did fetch me compliments. Also love the way all the inside stitches are seamed well. It's very rarely done these days.
